Clinical Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is one of the oldest types of therapy and it is very effective in producing successful and long-lasting results. It has an indisputable high success rate: athletes, celebrities and people from all walks of life take advantage of its benefits.

Hypnotherapy is an exceptional type of therapy that is not only highly efficient, but also brief and result oriented. Its uniqueness is derived from the fact that the therapist uses the state of hypnosis to accesses the subconscious mind where changes can be made fast. And while with classical psychotherapy one can take months and years to achieve a desired outcome, with hypnotherapy often 3 to 6 sessions are enough.

Hypnotherapy can be used for almost anything that you want to change and improve. The range of application is enormous and varies from achieving goals and improving performance, to coping with undesired behaviours, habits and emotional difficulties.

Hypnotherapy is a mind-body therapy and it brings about also physiological changes, such as changes in blood pressure and circulation, it boosts the immune system, switches on the relaxation response and thus increases the release of endorphins and the natural ‘feel good’ chemicals. Therefore, it is very effective in alleviating psychosomatic and stress-related conditions too.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state, in which we go every day, when we, for example, watch TV or read a book. It can be described as a natural state of deep relaxation and effortless concentration. While in the state of hypnosis, you remain aware of your environment and in control. That means that you decide if you allow yourself to go into that state or if you decide to leave it at any given moment. In this state you accept suggestions that are beneficial to you. Changes are made more easily as your critical and analytical mind is resting.

Why is hypnosis important?

With the use of hypnosis, the therapist bypasses the conscious mind, which constitutes of around 5 % of our mental functioning and is responsible for thinking, analysing, memorizing, etc. It works as a filter and selects what information to reach our subconscious mind based on the beliefs it carries. Some of those beliefs often do not work in our favour. The subconscious mind governs about 95% of our mind and it is the base of our behaviours, habits and beliefs that ultimately define who we are. Being able to bypass the critical mind and to directly reprogram the subconscious mind provides the therapist with a vast resource and enables the rapid achievement of the desired changes.
